Schools devise strategy to implement hike

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Jaipur: Every year, during this period, there occurs a standoff between school managements and parents. Reason: Most of the schools announce their fee hike from next session while announcing admission process.
Already many schools have issued circulars stating increase in fees upto 7% of total fees, the permissible limit set by state government. This year they have whole set of reasons to convince parents on the
reasons behind the hike in fees.
The schools have justified the fee hike by saying that their expenditure has risen by 14% annually. They have to bear the burden on account of 11% rise in the dearness allowance, besides 3% increment payable to every employee. Apart from this, the funds to support the 25% reservation on students from the economically disadvantaged groups will surely affect the budget of many families.
Most schools have devised formulas to implement the hike. Some say a minimum
5% hike is due to the reserved students, besides 10% on account of dearness allowance and annual increments along with 3% increment payable to every employee. Others blamed it on the cost of living indices and rising price of essential commodities. Learning lessons from the past and to avoid any direct confrontation with parents they have decided to hold meeting with them and explain to them the reason for hike,” said a school principal.
