Coaching centres are mushrooming everywhere

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Jaipur: Smart air-conditioned classrooms, e-books, lectures via video conferencing are not found only in elite schools, the modern-day tuition centres in the city also boast of them.
Persistent demand for tuitions, for both school and competitive exams, ensures that such centres flourish like never before. Part-time tutors are a rarity and a majority have made it their full-time profession.
They also charge exorbitant fees that is hiked at regular intervals. The business is also flourishing since parents as a norm send their wards to these centres for high scoring. In the absence of any regulatory body they charge a humongous amount of money.

To stand apart in the times of cut-throat competition, these centers are using latest technological gadgets to provide students all manner of comforts and amenities. Kota is a classic example of how coaching business can give a city’s economy a fillip. Institutes housed in palatial buildings offering engineering and medical coaching and charging up to Rs 80,000 highlight the potential of this unregulated industry.
    “This business is equivalent
to the number of schools in each city. Those who deliver the best will succeed,” Ramesh Adhikari, who runs a coaching institute for classes VI to XII at Malviya Nagar, said.
Most of them annually hike fees by 10% to meet their rising expenditures. They say large chunk of their profit is spent on developing facilities, printing study material, on projectors, e-books and internet
based coaching.
