Sikshya Sahayaks hospitalised

 BHUBANESWAR: As many as seven sikshya sahayaks on hunger strike were hospitalised on Saturday after their health condition deteriorated. The sikshya sahayaks under the aegis of Odisha Sikshya Sahayak Association resorted to an indefinite hunger strike at Lower PMG Square here on Friday demanding regularisation of jobs. The seven are undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital here.

 PARADIP: The decision of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), which conducts the HSC examination,  to give question papers to teaching and non-teaching staff for safekeeping has not gone down well with them. The BSE took the decision to entrust them with the responsibility after theft of question papers forcing postponement of matriculation exam.

schemes failed, child laborers up

 SAMBALPUR: Efforts by the Labour Department notwithstanding, the number of child labourers in the district has gone up. A fresh survey conducted by the State Labour Institute (SLI), Bhubaneswar, has identified at least 8,598 new child labourers in the district. This is in addition to 17,365 identified in a survey in 2005-06.
