Notifications and guidelines have been prepared to show that appropriate actions have been taken to streamline elementary education system in the state but the situation in government run ashram schools, corruption in management and the standard of Kasturva Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) have attributed serious questions to the education department.
The objective of KGBVs is to bring back girls who have been dropped out of schools due to economic scarcity. One of the backward district of the state Sundergarh claims this schools are to be opened by 2008 but it has not been finished in all areas of the district.
The school children are running with many problems in these schools. There is shortage of classrooms, the students have not been provided bed to sleep, improper arrangement of their fooding have been causing serious problems.
No serious attempts have been chalked out to enroll such girl children who are economically disadvantaged .Therefore, in schools, 30 to 40 girl children are studying where there is a provision that the school must have the capacity for 100 children.
